All skin can feel a bit sensitive from time to time depending on age, climate, or other things.

Challenges of sensitive skin:

-Acne-prone skin

-Eczema

-Rosacea

So I can understand that sensitive skin is hard to handle with all these challenges. So consider this as a guide to choose the perfect products and incorporate them into your skincare routine.

Morning Skincare Routine for Sensitive skin

STEP 1

Cleansing

Cleanse your face with a mild, sulfate-free, and fragrance-free cleanser. It will not irritate your skin and will clean your pores thoroughly. Take a hard look at the ingredients that are there in the face wash.

Harsh chemicals can dry out your skin and cause breakouts. The cleanser should be mild and hydrating because you do not want to upset your skin.

Things to avoid for sensitive skin:

Avoid exfoliants because they can cause micro-tears on the skin which can make the skin prone to irritation and inflammation. The cleanser should contain soothing ingredients that are gentle to the skin.

Also avoid parabens, phthalates, and fragrances because they can cause an imbalance in the skin’s pH which can lead to rashes, over-drying, breakouts, and redness.

Avoid any facial cleansing brushes because you don’t know how harsh can be the bristles on your skin.

Go for Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, it is incredibly gentle on your skin and is fragrance-free. It removes the impurities without stripping out the natural oil from the skin.

STEP 2

Toning

Toners for sensitive skin should be hydrating and should balance your skin’s pH. Do not miss this step because sometimes people think that it is unnecessary. But toners help a lot in cleaning your skin properly and also give your skin a natural glow.

Are toners good for Sensitive skin?

As your sensitive skin suffers from a lot of challenges like rosacea, dehydration, and eczema a toner sounds something that does not goes along with your skin. But the trick is that you need to find the caring ingredients for your skin.

The skin-loving ingredients are:

  1. Aloe Vera
  2. Hyaluronic acid
  3. Rose Water
  4. Glycerine

They do not irritate your skin but soothes and hydrates your skin.  A toner that stings is not for you. It’s an old concept of toners that irritates your skin a bit, but it is not necessary.

You can try RE’ EQUIL Pore Refining Face Toner. It is an alcohol-free toner that can balance your skin’s pH level as well as hydrates and moisturizes your skin without irritating it.

STEP 3

Serum

The best serums for sensitive skin should be hydrating and soothing. Serums are meant for targeting the problems of your skin that may be acne, uneven skin tone, dry and flaky skin or blemishes. But they do not contain any kind of harsh chemical or alcohol because you know your skin will be really angry if you use them.

They are made of ingredients that soothe and calm inflammation, alleviate dry patches, and reduce redness.

There are serums for acne-prone sensitive skin which helps in getting rid of that excess sebum from the pores without drying out your skin. On the other hand, if you have extremely dry and dehydrated skin, you can go for serums that hydrate your skin along with some antioxidants.

So you can consider this as your guide for choosing the serum according to the skin problems.

STEP 4

Moisturizer

Sensitive skin is generally dry, so layering it up with a thin layer of moisturizer is very much necessary because it creates a barrier that protects your skin from getting exposed to irritants and keeps the hydration intact.

Choose skin-loving ingredients. Ingredients have healing, soothing and hydrating qualities. Ceramides, aloe vera, glycerine, or hyaluronic acid are good for your skin.

Do not go for a moisturizer that contains sulfates, preservatives, or fragrance. Strong fragranced products generally cause skin irritation. Also, avoid acids like salicylic acid or glycolic acid. They actually exfoliate your skin, so is not very friendly to sensitive skin.

Go for CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion or Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream. Both are fragrance-free, gentle, non-comedogenic, and smooth on your skin.

Spot treatment

If you have acne-prone sensitive skin then you have to use some spot treatment products to clear up the scars and blemishes and to prevent future breakouts. But most of the acne treatment formulas include salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide which can irritate your skin.

So the trick is you have to go for products that contain a lower percentage of these chemicals and try them gradually so that your skin can become friendly o them. And you do not need to slather the product all over your face, just apply it to the spots which need the treatment.

You can go for Avène Cleanance Expert, it is best for sensitive acne-prone skin. It is non-comedogenic, hypoallergic, paraben-free, and also free of any oil. You can also use Murad Acne-control rapid relief active spot treatment.
